I’m a creative media practitioner and artist with expertise in location aware mobile experiences, small scale video production, and sound & music. Here’s my portfolio.
Recent projects include:
Managing production of ‘Bristol Urban Myths’ location-aware app for UWE and BBC Radio 4’s More Than Words festival – part of UWE/BBC ‘Second Screen’ innovation lab. The app will now be showcased at Bristol’s M-Shed museum.
‘Channel Weather Symmetry’ location-aware sound & music app and film, grant-funded by PRS Foundation, commissioned by the National Trust & Local Journeys and developed through a residency at the Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol.
Film production work on two short promo films for Alistair The Optimist/Motor Neurone Disease Association, and a promotional film for the Avon Cycleway.
Various music productions used in TV and film.
Hagiography
I first got interested in multimedia and new media around ten years ago when I bought a laptop and started producing music. Suddenly the tools of production, publication and distribution were available to everyone with a few quid to spare, and I jumped in.
After founding an ‘imaginary’ record label my music was picked up by various radio stations and tastemakers and I ended up recording four sessions for Radio 1, including one at Maida Vale in London. During this time I got more and more interested in the art and craft of sound, web, video and mobile technologies.
All this eventually led to me completing a Masters degree in Media Practice in my adopted hometown of Bristol, since when I’ve pursued my interest in a number of different areas including sound & music, location-aware mobile experiences, and small scale video production.
I also continue to produce music, usually released through Cardiff’s thoroughly excellent Electroneg label, some of which has been used in film and TV productions.
