Bristol Urban Myths

Managing the production of the Bristol Urban Myths iPhone/Android app on behalf of the University of the West of England, for BBC Radio 4′s More Than Words festival. The app includes 14 stories collected by Bristol writer Eugene Byrne, which can be listened to either on-location (via GPS) or at home through an ‘armchair mode’. Now available on iPhone and Android.

Alistair The Optimist

Two short films and a website produced for my friend Alistair Banks (‘Alistair The Optimist’) & the Motor Neurone Disease Association, for whom he has been fronting an awareness raising campaign for the past year. The website included functionality allowing participants to post photos and tweets to the home page during the journey. Float To The Coast has so far raised £45,000 for the MNDA, and recently won a highly commended award in the Justgiving Awards ‘Most Creative Fundraiser’ category.

Rhiwddolion

A short documentary film reflecting the solitude of the half-derilict ‘lost’ village of Rhiwddolion, high up in a hidden valley in Snowdonia. Although I grew up barely ten miles away I didn’t know the place existed until a couple of years ago, since when I’ve been a regular visitor thanks to my friend Chris who has a cottage there.

Avon Cycleway

Website and film work promoting greater use of the Avon Cycleway, a 90 mile circular loop through countryside surrounding Bristol.

The website aims to provide a shrine for all things Avon Cycleway – scenery, villages, natural history, pubs, cafes, bike shops, and weird stuff along the way. The website is very much a work in progress at this point in time, with plans for further expansion over the coming months and years.

Ffranconstein

An ambitious project that set out to ‘collaborate with everyone in the world’ to create a music-led multimedia work out of parts of other people. Collaborators were asked to contribute £10 upfront and were then invited to work with me, swapping ideas, inspiration and files to form what would eventually become ‘Ffranconstein’: a moveable feast of music, mixes, films, images and online publications, all presented open-source style so that people could access the materials and do with them as they wished.
